Passkey worked for me. Pinheiro and Szymborski do a great job of explaining with
simplicity. I studied with both the workbook and EA Review Complete and audio
books and passed all three parts of the SEE. ...It
is [also good] to print the pubs and review them as well. Additionally, as a student
without practical experience, I found it helpful to print the well-used forms
and work through them with imaginary information. Also, advice to students who
have taken tax accounting I & II, your foundation will help you grasp the
tough concepts, but I found the EA test to cover more information and some
specific exceptions/forms than your professors had probably not mentioned.
Everything you need to pass can be found in PassKey EA Review.

Excellent resource... I have purchased several study guides for the EA exams. The most
accurate, understandable and comprehensive is the PassKey material. I
have passed 2 of the 3 exams, so far, by using PassKey, supplemented by
IRS materials.

Simple and straight forward language. Easy to understand the concepts. The authors have presented in a simplified way the complex IRC.

I recommend getting the [workbook] as a supplement to the study guide. There were exam questions similar to the ones on the exam. In fact, I remember a few exact questions on the exam that were in the review workbook. Good luck to those taking the EA exam. It is a lot of material to remember. This book did a great job of preparing me for the exam. Passed part 1 on my first try.

The workbook is wonderful. I have timed myself to 3 1/2 hours and have been able to complete each part in the time allowed. I believe I will pass this exam with no problems and you can tell that the authors have a lot of experience in this field.
Sung Hyon (Aurora, CO), May 10, 2011
Easy to understand and comprehensive. This book is one of the best EA review books I've found. I downloaded a sample PDF file from author's website and liked how it read. I'd recommend this book.

Excellent study material!, May 5, 2011
Most of the resource material used to prepare for the EA exam is tedious and limited to rote memorization of prior year exam questions. The Passkey EA Review series is the exception to this. It provides useful information in a clear and concise format; it uses examples from real world situations. Each topic ends with a set of exam questions for immediate feedback and reinforcement. It is as much a learning tool as it is a study guide. Part 3 in the series, Representation, is particularly useful; it will help the student pass that section of the EA exam and also understand and apply the material in a practical setting. The Passkey series far exceeds the material I used when I taught the EA Exam Preparation course.

This is an excellent review for the EA exam. I studied each chapter and did the review questions at the end of each chapter. It is definitely sufficient for the exam. I passed on my first attempt. I did recognize a few questions from the book as well. It doesn't over-complicate any subject matter; it is easy reading and straight to the point...There's no need to waste money on more expensive review materials.
Ohio EA (Dec 28, 2010)
I passed all three parts on the first attempt. The written material was on point, and with the proper depth. The chapter questions were good as well. The information on the exam was perfect, and when I went to test, there were truly no surprises. I would say, though that the book could be improved. If the answers to the questions weren't right there next to the questions, it would be better. Really a small point however.

I have been doing Tax Preparation for the past 10 years with H&R Block. In preparation for EA exams, I used their computer base programs for Part 1 and Part 3, which allowed me to passed the exams. But I spent a lot of wasted time and repetative work studing. PassKey is a great way to go and get your Enrolled Agent status. I was told Part 2 Buisness was the toughest Exam, so I thought I needed some additional information to pass Part 2: Buisness. I searched out and found this book to prepare me much better than the H&R courses. It is much more informative and easier to understand. Some of my associates spent a lot more money on other computer based programs and found them to be somewhat difficult to understand. Plus they tied you to the computer for hours on end. After reading PassKey Part 2, I feel much more confident on passing SEE Part 2 and will be attempting the test in early January. If I known about the other books by PassKey before taking the SEE 1 and SEE 3, I would have purchased the entire set to better prepare me and not wasted hours on programs that did not prepare you as well as this book and the series of PassKey books.
Kei-Good book to guide as a foundation (July 31, 2010)
I have passed PART II business today 7/31. This is a good book to solid all TAX CONCEPTS/FOUNDATION and very EASY to UNDERSTAND. In addition, you need another Questions and Answers type of book to secure what you learn from the book. YES, the SCOPE of this test is VERY HUGE... this is a user-friendly book.

I have been using FasTax and Gleim testing software to prepare for the EA Exam Parts I, II & III. Although most learn by making mistakes, I decided a better way for me to learn was the old tried-and-true method.. to read about the subject matter before testing yourself on it. I was surprised that Borders and Barnes & Noble had no books at all on the EA Exam! I wanted to purchase a book with an easy writing style, so I could enjoy the process of preparing myself for the test. The publisher allows about a 40-page download to demo the study materials. I liked what I read, so I ordered the book. I have now received it, and it's much nicer than I expected. Text is bolded and bulleted to break the monotony, and the examples (a big learning boost for me!) are completely enclosed in a box, so they clearly stand out. There are 9 units in Part I, and each is followed by questions, complete with an explanation as to why the answer is correct. I showed the book to a CPA friend last night, and he went online immediately and ordered it! I HIGHLY recommend this book!

After using both the book and the audio book, I had no problems passing all three parts of the exam. It's a wonderful tool for anyone studying to become an enrolled agent.
Excellent Review/Study Guide for EA exam-Belle Aug 31, 2010
I have just started using this book to help prepare for taking the EA exam. The format is wonderful; it provides organized study information by chapter, then tests your comprehension with questions at the end of each chapter. The correct answer is provided, along with an explanation of why it's the correct answer. You are also provided with references to IRS publications for further knowledge and reinforcement of what you've learned.
Better than Gleim EA Review! Aug 22, 2010 Michelle S.
"I spent approx. $700 on the Gleim EA study materials and this book was better. Although the $700 was for all 3 parts of the exam; I did pass parts 1 and 3 with the help of Gleim. But did not pass part 2 until I got this book. (Second try I passed Part 2.) This book is extremely well written. And it's clear the authors and also tax pros...This book explains things in a very clear-cut, easy to understand way. I would recommend it highly."
Good book, Aug 10, 2010
I bought this book to study for the Enrolled agent exam. The book covers the exam material fairly well. I used this book and IRS publication 230 to pass. The book is written in simple language. I recommend this to book to enrolled agent candidates.
Reginald Crabbe (Haddonfield, NJ, US) Aug 3, 2010
"This book completes my resources for preparing for the Enrolled Agent exam. The coverage is definitely comprehensive and a lot easier to read and understand than the textbook I had to use for my college level tax course. There are enough questions at the end of the chapters to ensure you have studied the material adequately. It's a great size for a book that you want to take everywhere with you without feeling you're working out. The best part is that it is so affordable it's a no-brainer. I would recommend this to anyone considering the EA exam."
Jason "Jason Nguyen" (Houston, Tx, USA) July 1st, 2010
This is a book that helps me a lot in preparation for EA exam. The content is clear and concise. I think it is one of the most valuable books for people who are preparing for the Enrolled Agent exam.
Vicky Soohoo -June 8th, 2010
This book helped me self-study the important terms and concept about tax without taking any class. I recently passed the test of Part 1 and just started studying Part 2. The only short point is the printing size is small.
Cost Effective - Happy and Passed! M. Avila (Las Vegas, NV)
This is a great low cost study guide, I used it and the IRS Pubs to pass. There are not many books/paper available for this program at an affordable price.
Exactly What I Was Looking For! Diana
I needed something to help me prepare for the Enrolled Agent Exam other than dense and incredibly tiresome IRS publications and came across this book. This is exactly what I was looking for. The material is presented in a more concise, interesting and logical way than anything available on the IRS website and there are tons of examples and questions after each section to make sure you are comprehending the various IRS laws and regulations correctly. The introductory chapters were also very beneficial to someone like myself who has experience as a tax preparer but was not sure what exactly the enrolled agent designation meant as well as the process to obtain one.
